We’ve all been watching with dismay the deep devastation caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Maternity hospitals bombed, innocent civilians killed, journalists shot. Ukrainian cities lie in ruin.
For me, the devastation feels personal. A very dear friend of the family is from Ukraine and still has relatives there, some of whom have volunteered to defend their country. And, like many in America and the world, we’re inspired by the bravery of the Ukrainian military and the average citizen who is fighting back.
I felt compelled to help in whatever way I could. That’s why I painted Liberty’s Child – as an ode to the bravery of the Ukrainian people, and to raise money for them. The 24x30 inch painting depicts the colors of the Ukrainian flag and their national flower – the sunflower – which itself has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance.
If you support the Ukrainian cause, please consider purchasing the original or a print. A 100% of all profits will go to RAZOM, a Ukrainian nonprofit that is delivering aid and medical supplies to cities across the country.
